Michele Iaia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, COAFME-Certified Marriage & Family Therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. I maintain a private practice in Wayne and Narberth, PA.
With over 20 years experience as a clinical social worker, I specialize in individual growth and family healing. A graduate of The Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and Social Research, I received a master's degree in Social Service and Social Work. I attended a three-year post graduate program -- The Family Institute of Philadelphia, which led to a certification in Marriage & Family Therapy.
My clients receive concrete help with parenting, separation & divorce issues, as well as guidance on resolving sibling conflicts, alleviating depressive and anxious symptoms managing feeligs of rejection and abandonment fears. Together, we examine family of origin influences that become the template for present and future relationships and focus on healing past relationship wounds.
As an Employee Assistance Provider/consultant to national corporations, I counseled managers and employees on work place issues and work stress. We uncovered core conflicts central to boss/worker interactions and resolved them.
If you are impeded by mental blocks, have performance or test anxiety, I integrate strategies that optimize focus and concentration. Success is achieved through a variety of interventions: Gestalt, EMDR, mindful meditation and visualization.
In addition to being a therapist, I have presented to general audiences on such topics as: Transforming Women from Worriers to Warriors, Media's Sexualization of Young Girls, Discovering the Goddess Within, Self Esteem, Road Rage, Cheating: The Gender Gap, The Five Stages of Love.
As an interactive, solution-focused therapist, my therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal and professional challenges. Drawing upon different therapy models, I integrate theory and practice to offer a highly personalized approach specific to the needs of each client and, when appropriate, their significant others and families. With compassion, understanding and humor, we work together to help you build on your strengths, achieve your goals, heal past wounds and attain the relationship harmony you seek.
